Growing up with parents who used to live in Africa, I was privileged to hear incredible stories from all around the continent.
At the age of 19 and one year into an Environmental Science & Business Degree I decided that it was the perfect time for me to have my own stories to tell. I decided I wanted to be a volunteer and be as involved in animals as I possibly could, so the wildlife research project at Phinda seemed like the perfect choice. I left Australia armed with a camera and a serious amount of excitement, after an entire life of stories my expectations were very high.
On reflection the experiences I have had far surpassed my wildest expectations.
From dehorning rhinos to riding in the back of a land cruiser with two knocked-out lionesses I certainly got what I had hoped for. The ACE team and the Phinda locals have provided me with memories that will last a lifetime and an endless amount of stories that I will forever treasure.
